360° Environment

MAcA Museum offers a unique journey to the heart of environment, made of fun and active discovery, in a fully renewed context.

Many surprises await you!

Our wide choice of labs will make you discover the main topics linked to environment.

Our labs are conceived for students of all grades and adopt a learning by doing approach.

PLAYDECIDE! CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate changes endanger our planet and its inhabitants. Man is the main responsible of these changes, but he is also the one who can find a solution to them. What can we do to face climate change? Let’s try to find out an answer to this question.

ENVIRONMENT: GREEN ECONOMY ATTEMPTS

Reducing paper waste, exploiting renewable sources, taking part to online conferences and reducing displacements. During this lab students are engaged to build a green business plan. At the end of activities the best business plan will be voted.

STRAWS AND COMPUTER

An original and funny way to approach physics, electronics and mechanics. Sensors, engines and led devices will help us to create funny creatures of different shapes and colors, made of recycled plastic straws.

SCRIBBLING MACHINES

Thanks to a super scribbling machine made of engines and switches from toys and everyday devices, we will draw different forms. We will play with its components, creating new models and drawing instruments by changing engines and trying new materials.

ambiente-360-agenda-2030

2030 AGENDA

Fighting poverty, inequalities and injustice, ward off the spectrum of climate change.

The three goals that have been identified by leaders from 193 countries, defining 17 main goals to reach by 2030.These goals have been reaffirmed during the COP 21 in Paris. An essential engagement for our future and for a sustainable development.

360° BIODIVERSITY

Biodiversity should be preserved!

Each year, data on habitat preservation are alarming.

Thanks to the help of ZOOM Torino we will discover more on our planet and its habitats and how to preserve them.

In cooperation with zoom

ambiente-360-starlab

STARLAB

Starlab, a big inflatable planetarium, accompanies visitors on a journey among stars, planets and constellations; because ours is just of the countless planets of our galaxy.

WEATHER BALLOON: AERIAL MAPPING TECHNIQUES

It’s called citizen science, it should be read: here’s my contribution! Assume the role of a citizen scientist and look down on Parco Dora: with some help from the weather and thanks to a captive balloon we’ll investigate on Parco Dora status, Turin biggest post industrial park. Thanks to a camera we’ll discover potentially critical areas that we will then show in a map.

CLIMATE CHANGES: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

What do we mean when we speak of climate changes, which are the international scientific bodies in charge of it, which the conseguences and the future scenarios, the mitigation and adaptation actions, Piedmont Region’s guidelines and measures? We will discover it following the so called hands on approach.

FAKE NEWS AND ENVIRONMENT: SURFING THE NET WITH A CRICTICAL EYE

Climate changes are a fake, the earth is flat, we’ve never been on the moon. These are just some of the fake news we may come across when surfing the net, supported by social media and shared with no crictical eye.

During this lab we will learn how to face the so called post-truth, which is none other than a well dressed lie.

WHAT’S IN THE AIR?

Unfortunately, Italy is on the top list of deaths from air pollution. It is necessary to reverse this trend, first of all by understanding what we mean when speaking of air pollution. We will analyse which are air principal pollutants, trying to identify the primary sources of emission and their effects on human health and the environment. We will discover what we can do and which policies can be adopted to breathe and live better.

A SEED FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Clay, topsoil and egg trays. But also water and native seeds. Here are the ingredients we will use to spread greenery on our balconies and in the areas of the city that need it most. Between seed bombs, games and a pinch of science we will discover together the importance of a seed, fundamental for the life of plant species… and beyond!

TO MAKE A TREE… !

Who lives in the forest? How can the choice of a table influence the balance of the Planet? How can one pencil be more sustainable than another? Why can a chair “emit” less CO2 if I’m careful? From the forest to the sawmills, from the carpentry shops to the final product, from the shop to our homes. Discover the path that wooden objects must take to be truly sustainable and respectful of the environment. Do you believe that your choices can make a difference?
