DEMOSOFC, the energy you don’t expect
An important milestone in our journey to the future is clean energy supply to a 9 billion population expected in 2050. According to GreenItaly 2019 in the decade 2010-2019 global investments in green energy, hydroectric excluded, reached 2.600 billion dollars; half of them were devoted to solar energy: so that in just ten years we moved from 25 to 663 GW, in relation to the sharp fall in photovoltaic prices.
Despite these good results, renewable energy today accounts for just 26,3% of global energy production. It’s quite clear, at this point, that a transformation in global energy production is needed. It’s not necessary to wait until 2050 to visit some plants that make innovation and circularity their assets. We could mention SMAT Waste Water Treatment Plant in Collegno, the first in Europe of this kind, and in particular DEMOSOFC project, focused on Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) exploitation and coordinated by Politecnico of Turin.

Try to build up with your class an Aluminium-Air Battery! It can be quite a good start for a journey to a renewable energy world.
Have a look to our kit for instructions.

Here you find some slides that may help you to make the point on the subject with your students.
We talk about batteries and cells, observe their structure and explain how DEMOSOFC works.
We hope they could be useful!
